BBQ in the rain

We had a big BBQ party with a bunch of neighbors on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Wouldn't ya know...it rained!! The Saturday before had been about 104 degrees, and this Saturday was only about 65 degrees--crazy!! But, we still enjoyed ourselves. We have been fortunate to find some good friends and neighbors in our little community.

Memorial Day Weekend

Most of you know that we have annual passports to Disneyland, hence all the Disneyland posts! Here's another one...we went yesterday on Memorial Day. We figure that we are gathering information for when our friends and family want to go...FYI--Memorial Day is a great, slow day to go. No lines, front row seating for parades and beautiful weather! Of course, we had a blast. We stayed at Carrie and Bill's home and had a great bbq with them and John and Marsky. Avery got her fill of dogs for the weekend. She had Spencer, Oliver and Boyo under her thumb by the time we left. Aunt Marsky also got a tea set for Avery to play with--Avery loved it! She set it up with a little table and Avery served us apple juice and animal crackers. What a fun weekend.

My sweet girl...

Just had to share...this morning Avery woke up and walked into my bedroom, crawled into my arms, turned to me and said, "I ready get my brother sister". It melted my heart. She is so excited to have a new sibling. Wish us luck that it will happen soon!

I've been tagged-twice!

So, first Anna tagged me with this Mother's Day tag, I've just been slow to respond. Here goes:

What time does Avery get up? 8am ish :)

My favorite kids show? anything but Lilo and Stitch

Favorite chore? i don't have a favorite chore...who really does?

Favorite meal to cook? we love pizza, and it makes both Avery and Johnny happy when I make it.

Favorite thing that Johnny does with Avery? he practices her letters with her and does such a good job

5 things that make me smile as a Mom:
1. watching avery sleep
2. seeing the smile on avery's face as she's enjoying something
3. taking avery to Disneyland
4. making cookies with avery
5. knowing how much avery trusts me

Where do I want to take Avery someday? Hawaii--she loves the beach

1 thing I said I'd never do as a Mom? let my kid look at somebody else by crawling around in dressing rooms--I HATE THAT!!

Favorite quality about my Mom: she is very giving

Advice for Moms: hmmm...I think I'm better at taking advice than giving it sometimes. But, I guess I am pretty big on healthy eating...so my advice would be that, HELLO, there are more than hot dogs and mac and cheese as possibilities for lunch :) It has worked with Avery, I started her very young eating fresh, pureed veggies and fruits, homemade breads and sauces and that's the stuff she loves.

Okay, now I tag: Michelle,Emily and Julie

Now for the 2nd tag, from Angie--(by the way Angie, just think, last month at this time, we were layin on the beach in Cancun, I'm still having withdrawals!!)

How to play this game of tag. Post these rules on your blog. List 3 joys, 3 fears, 3 goals, 3 current obsessions/collections, 3 random surprising facts about yourself. Tag 5 people at the end of your post by leaving their names. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

3 Joys:
Avery babe
Johnny boy
the beach

3 fears:
losing Avery or Johnny
head on collision
getting fat

3 goals:
adopting another baby
raising my kids to be good, strong people
keeping a happy,healthy marriage

3 current obsessions:
staying tan :)
scrapbooking
blogging

3 random surprising facts about me:
I love chocolate and I love fruit, but I don't like them together
I sleep better by myself! love ya johnny :)
I have been told I am geographically retarded...I totally thought for the longest time that Spain and Mexico were right close to eachother, I mean, they both speak Spanish there right?! Before I moved to Louisiana, I didn't know that New Orleans was there, I thought it was just a place of it's own...I know, lame

Ok, so I think I'm tagged out! Now, I tag: Annie,Stephanie and Cait

While the boys are away, the girls will play...

Johnny is out of town for a couple days on a fishing trip and Stephanie's husband had a work dinner tonight, so we had a "girl's night in!" Stephanie and I made some yummy tex-mex dinner and ended it with some chocolate to cool off our palates from the jalapenos. While we were thoroughly enjoying our dinner, the girls were thoroughly enjoying messing up the family room...they had alot of fun together! Then, we played clean-up, but not before a picture-I had to show off the messiest my family room floor has ever been--quite an accomplishment for 3 little girls. After that we danced and sang to Disney Princess Sing-Along-Songs--oh the fun of being a girl! Thanks Steph for a fun night...and thanks Avery, Lisy, and Ruthie too!

Mother's Day Camping!

This year for Mother's Day we did something kinda unconventional and went camping! It was such a blast. We went with our friends James and Stephanie and their two little girls-which was so much fun for Avery too. She even spent most of the night sleeping in the small tent with her friends. We went to Big Sur and camped in the redwoods--it was so gorgeous. We also happened upon a 75th anniversary celebration at a local state reserve-Point Lobos. The kids had an especially good time there enjoying the several activities designed just for kids--Avery's favorite was holding the snakes! We even got "anniversary" cake--YUM! We took a little hike down to the beautiful beach and hung out there for a while. Avery was excited to go back to camp and have a fire...she had been waiting several days to go camping with her friends in the woods and have a fire. A couple times she would say she was going to "Cancun"...she was meaning "camping"...it was cute. Anyway, we went back to camp and had a roaring fire and roasted marshmallows to have yummy s'mores with. There is a pic of me trying to melt my chocolate over the fire--eventually my hands got to warm, but I was applauded for my efforts in making the perfect s'more!! The next morning, Mother's Day, the boys made us a yummy buttermilk biscuit, sausage and egg breakfast--what lucky girls we are. Then, we went on a great hike and enjoyed some more awesome views of the ocean. Finally, on our way home, we stopped off at another beach for some last minute beach time--it was beautiful. We are in love with the Big Sur and Carmel area--can't wait to go back!

Can you believe this kid??!!

The morning after Avery's birthday party, we needed to go run some errands. So, we are getting ready...and she stands by the door--like this--and says, "I ready Mama!" What am I gonna do with her?! Too cute!

Happy 3rd Birthday Avery!!

Avery is 3!! We can't believe it's been 3 years...time flies! We love our little Avery so much. She makes us laugh all the time--she likes to tease like Daddy. We had 8 of her little friends over for a birthday party! They each made their own pizza and frosted their own cupcake cone. Avery's favorite part was when we all sang Happy Birthday to her. It was so sweet to watch her little grin. She had been waiting for that moment for quite a while.

What a fun day for her.

Are you sick of hearing about Cancun yet??

I just can't say enough about what a fun time we had. We were with a great group and really loved getting to know them better. Now, we really wish we lived closer to them! Bummer huh...we'll have to plan another trip soon. Miss you Clint,Lisa,Clay,Angie,Mike and Karli!!
